Fed up with souvlaki and tzatziki? The ‘Indian Masala’ is one of the most popular indian restaurants in Athens – among both tourists and locals -, thanks to its good position and fair prices.
The restaurant is placed in Monastiraki, very close to the metro station, right in the historic center of the city. The food is always delicious, the variety of dishes good and the service very friendly.
The ambience is rather warm , but unfortunately nothing reminds you of India! The open kitchen allows you to watch the indian or pakistani chefs preparing your order , while the music and the lightning are both relaxing.
Our top favourites are: chicken biryani, peshawari naan and tandoori…don’t forget to tell the waitress in advance how spicy you want your dish to be….!
Keep in mind that the restaurant does not make reservations, but you will rarely find it difficult to find a table! And if you arrive peak time and there is no space, don’t worry! The take-away menu is much cheaper and you can , for instance, enjoy a yummy chicken biryani for just 4 euros, accompanied by a sweet naan (2.5 euros) and keep wandering in the city!
